Tour Director: Seasonal | Part-Time Contract
About the Role
Tour Directors are the heart of the Prodigy Student Travel experience. As a Tour Director, you'll lead groups of students through the streets, monuments, and museums of Washington, D.C. — bringing history to life and creating memories that last well beyond the classroom. If you love working with young people, know your way around the nation's capital, and thrive in a fast-paced, on-your-feet environment, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Lead engaging tours of D.C.'s most iconic sites, including the U.S. Capitol, National Mall, Smithsonian Museums, Lincoln Memorial, and the White House
- Keep the group moving by managing schedules, transportation, meals, and accommodations so every part of the trip runs smoothly
- Be the safety anchor for your group, handling any emergencies, medical needs, or unexpected situations with calm and confidence
- Spark curiosity by sharing facts, leading discussions, and making history feel relevant and exciting for middle school students
- Serve as the main point of contact between students, chaperones, and the Prodigy team — communicating clearly and professionally at all times
- Model the behavior you want to see and encourage teamwork, respect, and a positive group atmosphere throughout the trip
- Handle the details including student rosters, room lists, site confirmations, and ticket distribution.
What We're Looking For
- Genuine enthusiasm for working with middle school-aged students
- Strong communication and group management skills
- Comfort and experience in fast-moving, logistically complex environments
- Knowledge of Washington, D.C. history and landmarks (or a strong willingness to learn)
- Ability to walk 5+ miles per day and remain on your feet throughout the trip
- A calm, solutions-oriented mindset when challenges arise
